Where it all began...

A Brief history of a not so brief background is a bit easier said than done but I will do my best to give ya a glimpse! It really all started with my passion or better put, my obsession with music and being involved with any kind of DIY projects I can find. I started off by hosting a Punk Rock internet radio show for a good while in various outlets and under various names and would do my best to get lesser known and or new bands heard by new people, it started small and eventually got to a fairly large amount of regular listeners. At the time I was also dealing with a lot of personal things in my life that had become a bit too much to handle and it put a hold on the show for a good while.Fast forward a few years and that old itch became to unbearable to not scratch. So I attempted to pick up where I left on with the show, slowly I started gaining attention and new listeners but I wasn't where I wanted to be with it yet so I came up with the idea to do a compilation album to help promote the show. A good deal of bands around 40 or so agreed and contributed a song each to the compilation. It was only ever meant to be a Digital release however this gained so much support and people asking for physical release.I shopped the idea around to labels to see if anyone would be interested, I did eventually find a couple who were interested but time frames weren't lining up and I wanted this released sooner rather than later so I decided to look into it myself. I found a good source and had physical copies pressed and it sold out faster than I could have ever anticipated. This sparked the idea to consider doing a DIY label and work with lesser known and newer bands to help give them a leg up and get some much needed attention. It also sparked the idea to continue doing compilation albums as to pay homage to all of the compilation albums I grew up with. The label slowly gained more and more attention and did a great deal of releases.Another thing I have always been passionate about is being involved in causes and charities I believe in, so to tie this into the label everyone of the compilations I released were done for various charitable causes. This all made for a very memorable and special time in my life but I slowly became more and more disinterested and frustrated with things as the label was too specialized in one specific style and them as far as genre. It was expected to stay in one specific sub genre and if I branched at all it would go entirely over looked and under appreciated. Feeling more and more apathetic i slowly bowed out and became less and less active as a label until I decided to put it out of is misery officially.Bitter exhausted and frustrated I left the scene entirely for another short stint before that all too familiar itch started to rear it's ugly head back into my life, becoming too unbearable to ignore I decided to pick up where I left off with the label but under a new name and with a new mindset. This kicked off Spectral Sounds Media. Going at it with a fresh mindset and making sure not to pigeonhole myself like last time, I am very eager and excited to see where things go!That's about it in a nut shell!Nick
